UK Motorway recovery charges

  on 05 October 2008 by c4owner

Tow TruckThat's correct. From last week if you breakdown on a UK Motorway and Don't have your own breakdown/recovery cover then it will cost £150 to be towed off the motorway.

FMG Support, based in Huddersfield, now have a 3 year contract to operate a national breakdown service.

There is also a sliding scale of charges depending on the type and weight of the vehicle.

Have an accident and the police will still be responsible for recovering vehicles but the charge for that will rise as well and could be £300.

Storage charges will also rise by 66% from £12 per day to £20.

If you don't have your own cover then anyone using a motorway on a regular basis should think carefully about the potential costs of a breakdown
